Yes! There… I said it! It is possible… and I say so because we just did it!

There may be horror stories & problems & frustrations out there but I am here to tell you that we just moved over 5 entities to Oracle Fusion Cloud (5 more to go as I write this) in a matter of 5 months. The scope included Fusion Financials, Project Portfolio Management, Fusion Supply Chain & two major developments of on Oracle PaaS (Platform as a Service).

How did we do it, you ask? Here are some key things to remember –

Its a Migration – Keep that in mind, migration is when you already have all your processes & functions defined and clear (preferable in Oracle EBS or other legacy ERP application). You are not going to beat around the bush “trying” to figure out what needs to be implemented. Be clear on what you want and that’s half the work done.

Strong Project Management – This one sounds cliche, but when you and your users will see the shiny new interfaces on Oracle Cloud and look at what it can do, it will be so easy to add “just one more” functionality. Stay away from temptations like that you will reach your goal on time. Remember, the project management I am talking about is from the client side, not from the implementation partner. I could write a whole book on why this an Absolute Must!

Implementation Partner – I can’t emphasize this enough. More than having a name brand partner with tons of implementations under their belt, what really matters is your team at hand. Its like a game of cricket or football, what you do on the day matters… statistics is for suckers! Make sure you are happy with the team you get, interview & grill them and life would be happy.

Oracle! Oracle! Oracle! – What do I mean by this? Oracle has got its game right with the Oracle Customer Success Managers (CSM) & Oracle Implementation Success Managers (ISM). Make sure they are active participants and involved every step of the way. You will not believe the amount of support that these guys and the greater Oracle Support team provided to get us here. Take advantage of their knowledge & experience.

Since this was my pet project, I can ramble on, but feel free to comment & share this article. If you have specific questions on how we did this, reach out to me.
