So, its been a while since we went live with Oracle Fusion Cloud Release 12 across our organization. Major modules from Finance, Supply Chain & Project Portfolio Management were implemented. We built 4-5 custom extensions through PaaS and developed more than a hundred custom reports. 2017 was definitely tough, but also a hugely satisfying journey where I was able to lead an organization through an entirely transformative experience.

I frequently get asked questions about the effectiveness of an ERP – Is it worth it? Are you seeing benefits? Is it a white elephant? Where do you go from here?

Unfortunately, there is no straight answer to it except the fact that any ERP is only as good as the amount of work being put into it. It will effortlessly compound good data and provide great results and the vice versa.

I have been quite busy the past 6 months…

Three months post Go Live – Yes, there were problems, issues, tickets.. call it whatever you want. But it was more in terms getting acclimatized to the new way of doing things. No matter how many UAT (User Acceptance Testing) or Training sessions you do, there will be scenarios that you just wouldn’t have anticipated. You just roll with the punches on these…

Reporting – Reports which seemingly worked well during testing will somehow break down. When migrated & live data meet newly built reports, the mix can sometimes give jitters to even the most seasoned project managers. Be on the lookout for these if you are in the middle of your journey. I struggled more than I anticipated on this one for sure.

VAT Implementation – Add to all that was going on was the VAT implementation deadline of January 1, 2018. We dove head first into the implementation and Oracle Fusion Cloud being VAT ready, we did not face any major issues other than the clarity of law.

Onwards in 2018 – We plan to implement additional modules to harness more value out of the product. Function specific dashboards is definitely on our radar since its an inbuilt feature and quite easy to achieve. Oracle has announced dates for Release 13 upgrade for Fusion Cloud which aims at a lot more functionality and fulfilling some long pending Enhancement Requests. So, this upgrade would also be part of the plans for 2018.

It definitely is going to be a busy year but I look forward to it as we aim to make our ERP the cornerstone of our decision making process.

Feel free to reach out to me if you are in the middle of your ERP journey…
